How Can One Practice Holistic Dentistry in a Capitalist Society? I Am Only Asking!

I entered the office of Dr. Terry Victor on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 for a comprehensive oral evaluation, which was done with professionalism and a keen sense of humanism. After all, the documentation was responded to in writing (Questions answered). I was schooled about privacy issues and the philosophy behind his dental practice. I was impressed by the oral and written presentation and took mental notes. I was aware of having a periodontal problem, compounded with partial denture breakage; hence, the purpose of my visit. The insurance that I possessed was not transferable or applicable, but I submitted to the “will” even though I had to justify my actions on another level. (Wisdom is wisdom). Is it the “dollar” or your “being”? The system of Capitalism is chipping away at the “core” and is biting as a “cobra” would—deadly —- trampling human worth and integrity. That’s why the question, “How can one practice Holistic Dentistry in a capitalist society?

I have chosen to “be” holistic and am pleased with the outcome and can continue to “smile” and bite while breathing …Thanks, Dr. Victor for this is a promotional piece because you are shaping “a future”, and the ancestors are “vibrating” with your staff and you! Be resilient because the Human Spirit will supersede greed and bigotry!

I was thrilled to find such a patient and expert dentist waiting for me (literally, after I got lost trying to get there!) when I lost a partial filling of a large and difficult filling in my back lower molar. Dr. Victor’s expertise and willingness to not only do that repair well, but to also rebuild the tooth and solve a gum issue for me that had been a problem for almost a year, was beyond his requirements, and yet he did so, with expertise and kindness. I so appreciate his “chairside manner”. When I shared that I have trouble with anesthesia, he listened and adjusted his care on the spot to allow for this issue. I admire his commitment to his patients’ overall dental health, and to being “green” in his use of materials and treatments. “I became Dr. Victor’s patient six years ago when I was eight months pregnant and needed emergency dental treatment. No other dentist would consider the task, but Dr. Victor took the time to speak to my midwife and learn what procedures and medications could be used in my situation to protect me and my unborn child. “My husband and I started to visit Dr. Victor’s office in January 2005. That was the best decision for us and it has been a great experience. During my initial exam with Dr. Victor, the Xray that I brought in from my previous dentist was reviewed. I had wisdom tooth extracted and a piece of the equipment was left inside. The gum was healed and I was not even aware of it being there until Dr. Victor reviewed the Xray, which my previous dentist had and reviewed himself as well. Dr. Victor’s detailed examination, asking questions and taking the time with each patient saved me from having to deal with a more serious issue down the road.

We feel like a family when we go to Dr. Victor’s office. Not only do we get excellent service but also we feel welcome and that we are not a number. And most importantly is the fact that we know that Dr. Victor is a holistic dentist. We do not have to worry about harmful chemicals being used in our mouth. We visited other holistic dentists in this area; however, Dr. Victor’s office always comes on top.”
