Families are giving back to US Troops & First Responders by donating candy, letters and pictures to Operation Gratitude from November 1-8th 10am-4pm weekdays at The DC Dentist, the area’s first Holistic, Biological and Eco-Friendly dental office on the East Coast where Dr. Terry Victor provides General, Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry to adults and children.
The DC Dentist is taking candy from children while teaching service and generosity, which is a great way of boosting the moral of our Troops serving abroad and First Responders here in the US.
Dr. Terry Victor is excited about the reduction of sugar consumption by our children while being able to say “Thank You” to all that serve. Dr. Victor’s philosophy is that the mouth is connected to the rest of the body and should be taken into in viewing the patient’s overall health. As it is, cavities happen to be the number one most infectious preventable disease found in children. A dental infection is the number one reason our children miss school to the tune of 51 million school hours lost each year.
We speak with our patient’s especially our children on the importance of maintaining good oral health which in turn helps them obtain good overall health. Knowing that candy will be given to responsible adults, who are appreciative for a reminder of home, is one of our ways of saying “Thank You” to all for doing a great service to our country.
Last year Operation Gratitude received 559,000 written letters of gratitude. Since its inception Operation Gratitude has distributed to over 3.3 million deployed troops, recruit graduates, veterans, military families, first responders, and healthcare heroes through its Care Package Program.
Children on Capitol Hill along with other children across the DC Metropolitan Area will join the rest of our nation by bringing their candy, pictures and handwritten letters of gratitude to The DC Dentist at 509 11th St. SE near Eastern Market.
Some of the expected 1.8 million Care Packages to be shipped out by Operation Gratitude will include candy, handwritten letters, pictures and drawings collected by The DC Dentist Staff November 1-8th, during office hours. We will have a little something extra for those donating their candy so as not to leave empty handed. Thanks in advance for your support.
